I absolutely disagree. A new Fairness Doctrine would destroy talk
radio and increase, not decrease, the number of blowhards on the air.
The additional blowhards will be non-professionals with agendas who
will request airtime for no purpose other than to disrupt programming
with which they disagree. With the number of callers each hour how do
you determine which you're legally required to provide time. A tiny
percentage of listeners call. We'd then be deluged with every wacko
who feels insulted. Even more than we do now off the air and in the
screening process.
We're just asking for another set of vague rules just like indecency.
Stations will play it safe and even blowsofts will be at risk. Let's
give the FCC another reason to fine us.
