The AMSS paper is interesting:

I would suggest the IP address of the station's streaming audio server
also be included in the AMSS data, to allow AM receivers with WiFi or
WiMax capability to access simulcast programming automatically through
the Internet, if wireless service is available.

The latest statistic I've found (from May 06) claims 8.4 percent of US
households now have hi-speed wireless networks. (I'll leave it to
someone else to calculate how much that exceeds HD Radio penetration.)

For that matter, the RDS and RBDS standards should also be revised to
include transmission of an IP address.

Has anyone here tried the new Sirius "Stiletto 100" portable receiver
with the 802.11b feature? According to the blurb in the latest
Crutchfield catalog, battery life is doubled when using WiFi mode,
rather than the normal satellite receiver -- so this might be another
solution to the battery life problem that's supposedly keeping HD
portables from hitting the market.
