I grew up listening to KOMA at night and Canadian Top-40 radio during
the day...620 CKCK and 800 CHAB. On infrequent trips to Billings in the
70's I would get to listen to KOOK and when I moved to Billings in 1981
for broadcasting school, the station was starting to lose listeners to
FM although the top rated station in the market was country KGHL-AM.

Rockwell, I hope some of those 1970's era airchecks of KOOK include
Major Dan Miller. I worked swing shifts at KKBR-FM (KBear) in Billings
in the late 90's and when I worked an overnight shift on a Friday
night/Saturday morning there were two things that made it bearable (no
pun intended)...1) watching the sunrise over the Yellowstone Valley from
the 23rd floor of the Sheraton Hotel and 2) working with Major Dan
Miller who is one of the most down to earth and nicest guys I've ever
met in radio.
