That particular station is, as I mentioned, 9 kw at 300 feet ahaat.  Essentially a big class A.  15 miles, on a car radio, is not "fringe" for an A, even in these hills.  Everyone else is scattered across a variety of hills around here, so at any given point comparing stations is a matter of fruit salad (Apples to oranges, pears, or kumquats) rather than applesauce.  Still, over-all, car radio coverage for this station is not up to par against the half-dozen "A's" in the market. 

And regularly getting creamed that close in by an equivalent C-2 over a 100 miles away is not a good argument for the supposed merits of an H-pol antenna.
