I've seen the 11 Kv signs as far as New Haven. I've been told that
Metro North can't go beyond New Haven because of the power
differences. Has that changed? There's a rumor in Western MA that
they're going to electrify the Northern spur and run commuter trains
as far North as Hartford and, possibly Springfield, MA. Now they have
to change engines at New Haven. The Boston end of the line was
electrified some years ago. There's also a rumor that they're
thinking of electrifying the Boston-Springfield line and running
commuter service between Boston and Springfield. Boston is getting
nearly as expensive as New York, so commuters are moving father and
farther West.
