[BC] 110 V DC AC/DC radios 5 tube all american

Sometime in the mid-50s the UL began requiring these radios to use
"floating ground"- meaning that the circuit-ground was isolated from
the chassis except for a resistor/compactor combo that provided "RF"
grounding.  The capacitor could pass enough AC to bite a bit if you
touched the chassis and a earth-ground but was much safer than
connecting the AC line directly to the chassis.

As for polarized plugs I don't know why it took them so long to start
requiring those but I don't think I saw them on electronic stuff until
the early 1970s.  Now nearly everything has them.
