In that era, there was quite a bit of cross pollination between KSMU and 
KNUS/KLIF.  Quite a few KSMU Alumni worked there, or at other Dallas stations.  

Being aware that I had a "TV voice and a radio face," I spent a lot of time 
working in TV at KMEC (the original Channel > 33), KRLD AM-FM & TV and 
> eventually at KTVT. I also had a couple of brief, but interesting radio gigs.  Like 
> many of my classmates, I'd go to class, work at a "real" station and do my 
> shift at KSMU.  Sleep was optional.
