If a captive "spin-off" of GM is possible, Delphi is its name.
The "bankruptcy" of Delphi is a debt reorganization, a club
to hold over the unions who know that retirement benefits
could be wiped out in the process unless they negotiate with
care and due regard for Delphi's bottom line.
It is also possible that the Delphi proceeding may be a dry
run for GM itself, protests and denials to the contrary.
The big question at this point is how many job cuts will be
in Michigan and how many in Indiana.
This is business as usual in the 21st century, and it is
doubtful if Delphi will back away from IBOC in any way.
