There is a rumor that this is how the Bird Wattmeter came about.
At one time you could gauge the power of a radiating antenna system by 
counting the number of  bird carcasses found on the premisis daily.
Later someone decided create a measuring device that could be more accurate 
and remote sampled.... and.... et voila!
