I was the very capable engineer at a station in Roswell
New Mexico whose whole operation was based on
very close involvement with the community.  As a
result that one station had 65% of the market's radio 
advertising dollars.  The other stations tried all sorts of 
gimmicks but none did peep for the locality.  Everyone 
on that station's staff did their thing well and the station 
did well.

And one station per owner in a given market always
sounded good to me.
