Essentially, no. When I was programming WPIX, New York I was a 
reporting station which meant I reported my song additions to the 
trades. Liz Kiley at LOST, Los Angeles, was, too. If either of us 
added a song it immediately jumped to the top. That meant everyone 
else added the song. Basically we controlled the chart. It didn't do 
either one of us any good because we would never know what other 
programmers thought was worthy of play. Finally, I suggested to Mike 
Kinosian, the AC Editor, that he add a lot more reporting stations to 
lessen our impact on the chart. That was about 15 years ago. If you 
get R&R today you'll notice many, many more stations contribute to the chart.
