What's the longest period you ever went without meeting your boss?

When I worked in Florida, I never ever met my boss and to this day, still
haven't nor do I even know what he looks like. I interacted with our CE
almost every day before he passed away in May 2005(RIP Steve) but the CE
wasn't actually my boss, just my go between.

So, I never met the man who signed my checks... It's just the way they
operated. i was told "The less you see of Mr So and So, the better.. it
means you're doing your job right"

Have any of you ever had an expierience like this?    I won't give any
names, places or stations.. but maybe those of you who know me well and knew
who I was working for might understand this a little better
