Without getting into the many problems
of wikipedia and its "popular" definitions...

MANY words have changed meaning in
recent years and use has turned many
of them into pejoratives well beyond
         their original scope.

Pity the person referring to a gay goy guy.

Listening to elderly speakers of other
languages, one often hears words or
comments that would bring the PC police
down like a 16 ton weight. Context
is important ... and whether we agree
or not, the habits and/or prejudices of a lifetime
are not always changed in an instant
by the declaration of some advocacy group.

Discussion of every word and meaning cannot
be put into a neat "box" ... and this is
exploited by those who want to "provoke"
         a reaction.

One thing is clear over the years, it is almost
impossible to change the opinion and attitude
of some, especially on the Internet. One can
repeat the truth over and over, but if the
other person is not listening, it is worse than
         a "shout-cussion" on a cable news program.

Sadly, it is not possible to "set the record straight"
on the Internet. You can only do that in your
little corner. Put up a page with your thoughts,
and point folks to it, by all means, but back-and-forth
"it's this way" "no, it's this way" just causes people
to either delete the posts, or worse, remove themselves
         from the discussion by unsubbing.

I will only say this: AF has lost many more subscribers
since its inception than it has gained. Most comments
to me relate to the harsh/unyielding fights over
         religion and politics.
