All the WTC steel was sprayed with a gunnite-type fire retardant.
Remember, the planes came from Boston, so the fuel tanks were nearly
full. There'a always the chance a plane will hit a building. It
happened recently on the East Side with a small plane.

It seems to me there's a much better chance of fire under an
overpass, though the fires under the overpasses in NY and SF looked
pretty intense. There have been many car fires in New York's tunnels
but none have done much damage. Fuel trucks aren't allowed in the
tunnels. I called the Fire Dept. once to ask where I could dispose of
propane canisters I use in camping. The firefighter on the line
stopped me in my tracks, telling me It's a felony to bring ANY fuel
through the tunnels beyond a car's gas tank.

When you're in Manhattan note the number of RV-type vehicles with "no
propane" written on the side. Most are movie production mobile
dressing rooms and equipment trailers.
