Been a long while since I've seen a 5K; so memory might be
faulty

On the 2.5K/H series, the IPA is connected to the PA cavity
by a coax jumper.
The PA is easily driven by an exciter/amplifier directly;
just "T" in a 1/4 wave shorting stub to protect the solid
state unit's output stage. The match is pretty close to 50
ohm; ran a 2.5H for years this way driving it with an 802A
(later a BE FX-50) at around 25 watts.

On the 10K, the IPA assembly is mechanically joined to the
PA cavity. If the 5K is like the 10K, suggest stocking up on
whatever it uses for the IPA tube. Haven't heard of anyone
successfully inserting a solid state IPA stage in a 10K. The
10K uses a 4CX300a which is an obsolete tube type. However,
RF Parts has ICAS type 4cx300A's in stock, have one in my
10K which seems to be happy, and several on the shelf.
