I have done this.
I once even used two subcarriers, one for the talent, and one for the
audience.
It works fantastic.
In general, I used one subcarrier. The local audience was treated to
the IFB.
I once had a morning show with MANY players. I used two IFB paths,
sometimes Subcarriers, but often broadcast loops.
I used sub-audible tones (PL) to select who got the IFB in his ear.
It was Talent 1, Talent 2, Talent 3, Producer, local technical or
promotions. I could have extended it to 32 users. It worked GREAT.
The studio guy could select the ears he wanted to contact.
The board operator even tried to contact more than one person, and
even though it wasn't part of my plan, it worked.
