Hello All!

I have some radio contacts all over the globe and one of them includes the Manager at Radio Nauru, at 105.1 FM on the island country of Nauru in the South Pacific Ocean. They used to be on AM many years ago with 250W but now transmit with 1KW into, I think, 4 bays, from the highest point on the island.

The Station Manager sent me a studio picture which I've posted here:

I don't know what kind of console or CD player that is, although I DO recognize the CD player, having seen it in some stations before. Look closely, you'll see Facbeook on the computer to the left and solitaire on the computer to the right.

Radio Nauru is "live assist" using Windows Media Player and CD's. I don't remember what automaiton system they tried out, but the Station Manager said they had numerous issues with it and went back to "live assist"

I am awaiting airchecks of Radio Nauru, my original set of tapes got lost in the mail but the station is replacing them and will be mailing me some airchecks in a month or two. I am also awaiting airchecks of Atlantic FM from Tristan Da Cunha in the South Atlantic Ocean.

Atlantic FM on Tristan Da Cunha is only on the air 2 hours a week, Sunday afternoons at lunch time. It is a small island with only about 270 residents currently, It operates on 93.5 I think, with 25Watts using a 1/4wave dipole and SBSFM transmitter.

The only island smaller in population and more remote is Pitcairn with 50 residents in the South Pacific Ocean over 3000 miles from any land. Pitcairn did have a hobbyist FM radio station, oeprating with 10 watts on 87.9.. It was on more often then Tristan Da Cunha's station, but not full time.
