40 Feet? How about HALF that length? 27 mHz uses a 108 inch whip, which means
a 26 mHz antenna would only be about 20 feet total. You could make two of
these, put one on each side of the tower and feed them with a harness made up
of two 1/4 wave pieces of RG-11. Cheap and dirty, but it would certainly
work.
