Two things to monitor are: (1) the extension the CAP-EAS clock (of course) and (2) changing guidance on the IPAWS conformity assessment program.

That IPAWS assessment program is being expanded to include the actual EAS-CAP translation function, as defined in the EAS-CAP Industry Group guidelines (www.eas-cap.org).

Last week, I was at an industry event in DC where tthe government also that the assessment program will now include assessment of how devices handle the mandatory (must carry) governors alert (which should also be formatted to the ECIG guidelines). The revised IPAWS assessment guidance should be public on November 30th.

Bottom line: all vendors will need to need to resubmit their EAS products for conformity assessment, in order to be able to be eligible to connect to the IPAWS network. The changed guidance, however, may have an interesting impact on which products and systems will "pass" the revised assessment process.
