bombs - A and H. "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" and "Dark Sun"

The new biography of General Groves is an excellent companion to these. 
"Racing for the Bomb" by Robert Norris

"Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman!" is a must-read by Richard Feynman. His 
tales of exploits at Los Alamos are legendary.
