I wonder how long it will be until a big 4 network affiliates with a non TV
station in a major market. Already they are beginning to sign third and fourth
tier UHF stations that they wouldn't have had a second look at a decade ago.
What's to stop CBS from affiliating with a news organization like New England
Cable News? They'd still have a news presence in the market and NECN might
actually pay THEM for the affiliation-instead of the other way around.

radio?
Barry noted:
The TV station has a marketable audience on cable (often satellite
as well). But if they gave up their over the air bandwidth,
they would no longer be a "broadcast station." The cable
company--local advertising competitor to the TV
station--would then no longer be obligated to carry that TV
station ("must carry") and would drop them like a hot
potato.
