I had a power analysis performed at my
Danbury, CT studios. We had many short
duration blips that caused automation
computers to reboot or lock up. On one
branch in our offices the THD measured
in excess of 20%. A workstation and HP
Color LaserJet were on this branch. It was
the Color LaserJet generating the hash.

Switching power supplies, SCR light dimmers
and even desktop UPS units can generate
THD (where distortion is defined as anything
other than the original waveform) in large
quantities.
