[BC] Keeping an eye on the ground

Has anyone tried running one of these on a Sola or similar regulating
transformer ?
The reason I ask: years ago I tried to use something with a switching supply
on one and it just would  _not_ *do*; dueling waveforms, I presumed, at the
time..............
