To answer Cowboy's question, yes, Simian can record/playback material.

We use it that way all the time to record and replay ABC network spots
when we are running other syndicated/network shows (such as Premier's
AT-40 replays and Delilah). The network helps us out with netques to
start recording.

We also use it to record promos and the like that ABC feeds during
certain dead breaks, using a time command. That would probably be the
best way to get the feed Kevin needs to record.

My first question would be whether the sound card has been properly
set up under the "hardware" tab. You have to tell Simian where the
record feed is coming from (it can run with two or more sound cards in
the computer). Also if the sound card has its own software that may
need to be set up. We use the BSI-recommended Audio Science sound
cards, they have mixing software with "virtual" faders--on a new
install sometimes you need to check to see that record audio is turned
on and is the right level.

I don't play with Simian enough to remember all the ins and outs;
Kevin might give my ops mgr Scott a call if he still can't get it to
work, afternoons are best at 304-684-3400 (EDT).
