Ladies and Gents,

I haven't followed the FM translators for AM stations thingy too close, but
a friend had a questions. He's buying an AM station along with an FM
translator.

He referneced me this article from 9/2006
http://www.rwonline.com/pages/s.0052/t.312.html

And this one from Septemebr 2007:
http://www.broadcastlawblog.com/archives/fm-translators-and-lpfm-fcc-finally-releases-notice-of-proposed-rulemaking-to-allow-fm-translators-to-rebroadcast-am-stations.html

Do AM stations who have FM translators have to feed the FM translators with
the same STL the AM station uses?
Can the FM translator be up to 25 miles away from the AM station's antenna
or does it have to be within the 2 millivolt contour of the AM station?

It was my understanding that the FM translator HAS to be fed by the AM's STL
and HAS to be within the 2m/v DAY Contour of the AM.

Please forgive the uneducated question.

Paul
