[BC] notebook suggestions

Both me and my wife have identical Dell Inspiron 6000 notebooks; each has
been trouble-free for practically two years now.  No complaints here.

(I'm just wondering how many "generic" parts really go into these things;
and if should have bought cheaper to begin with.  Dell just buys most of
their components the same places the others do...)
