Peter:   When I was at the site many years ago I believe it was  Jim Hampton 
that told me they had not operated the transmitter in some  time.  Their two 
transmitters then were the 317C and the Western Electric  7A.
 
Dana is correct,  Paul did operate the old Western Electric for the  evening 
and morning of Jan 1 to preclude any Y2K problems.
