Could that be due to the station's original use as a maritime 
station? I haven't checked the database and wonder if the pattern has 
been changed since the olden days. I remember driving home after my 
shift on WKOX-FM in Framingham (20+ miles of Boston and relatively 
close to the transmitter site) at 1 AM the signal was weak. 
Radio-Locator's patterns still show a very sharp pattern toward the water.
