[BC] Counterpoise Ground System

WOW, back then, if your ground system was connected to the city's water
main, you would have a ground system all over the city! These days,
they are replacing galvanized & steel pipes with PVC, so no use in
trying to go to the trouble of it now. No wonder WROZ had a good signal!

For years WROZ, 1400kc, 1-kw-d/250 night, (now WEOA) in Evansville, IN
had a rooftop job on the top of the YMCA building downtown. They did
something similar with their radials, except they added a 4 inch copper
strap that went down each side of the building, THEN each attached to
the 6 inch water main that served the building. "Rosy Radio" had a
superior signal to 5kw competitor WJPS 1330 for many years.........,
until they tore down the YMCA and WROZ moved to a standard site down by
the river..........
