[BC] Mac McGarry Starts 46th Year Hosting "It's Academic"

Mac McGarry arrived at WRC radio Washington in the 1950s. He did 
afternoon drive among other things. 

Then someone had the idea of a serious high school quiz program on 
WRC-TV in which 3-person teams from 2 or 3 high schools competed each 
week during the school year.  McGarry was host / quizmaster.  He still 
is - starting the program's 46th season. The Giant grocery chain remains 
the sponsor.  He also hosted a Baltimore version at one time.

This must be close to a TV record.
