[BC] Clear Channel planning to sell off

I have an "inside source" in CC telling me what might be happening to
the small AM's here in TN that CC owns. They don't want them; they are
nothing but a burden to them.

Those little stations, sit there all day long, with some form of
Satellite
Automation, and make no money for them. Robert, now wouldn't make sense
to sell a 500 watt daytimer to a local O & O, and CC recoup some losses,
and put that money where it is needed, say an up grade on a FM, Class C,
in a completive market?

They could put some of that money in Prophet, and build that business up
to more than what it is doing. I use Digital Juke Box, and right now, it
beats Prophet hands down, and in more affordable for the smaller
broadcaster.

Yes, I realize during the mergers that had to take those little AM's to
get what they wanted, but it's time they let them go. I know of plenty
of folks that would be great O & O's for some of those little AM's.

WOAI was their first biggie, and they have always and will, IMHO,
continue to do a great job with it. They are doing well with WLAC here,
despite what the numbers say, WLAC is "kick tail" on AM. The
reorganization is a good idea to allow them to focus on what's more
important.

I know of one they may sell that I may make an offer on.

Scott

That is a revisionist version of history. 8 years ago CC as we now know

it did not exist. If you look back, CC stations with big stations like
WOAI. Then then merged with Jacor which had large medium and some small
stations. It was AM FM that bought a large number of small stations (
and bought Prophet). They merged with Chancellor Media Corp which was a
merger of Chancellor Broadcasting and Evergreen. It was only after all
that happened, that the final Clear Channel merger came along and made
it the Giant Company it is today. Those small stations were already
there.
