We use the J/K sportscast unit, air staff happy with it. Seems like a well-built analog unit, haven't had much trouble with it. Sports guys can more or less figure out how it works.

The ability to patch into the miniature modular used for handsets is very handy, as we run into a lot of digital telephone systems in schools. We use the hybrid capabilities, but normally not when talent is on the air. On some distant sports broadcast (where the station can't be heard off air) we use a hybrid at the studio to feed air back to the talent, haven't noticed any problems doing this.

Only thing that does not work well is the feed to a cell phone. Too easy to overload the digital phones, the audio starts to "swim." However, we only rely on cell phones for emergencies. Such as when the state high school powers-that-be moved a tournament basketball game with to a venue without any broadcast lines available. With 5 hours notice.

For a college station like VAC I would recommend staying with analog systems. Simple, more reliable, easier to train volunteers.

You might also get a second opinion from Gary Fullhart--your WVAC alumni down at CC Engineering, Toledo.
