[BC] CD Players

Two years ago I rewired and installed a Mediatouch system where the studios
and wiring were in terrible shape. I installed a microphone, telephone
interface for a basketball game that was scheduled, IPOD with several
prepared playlists, and a Mackie mixer. The station ran that way for three
days while I cleaned things up and installed the automation system.

Sam,

Community Radio, who is in charge? Tell them they have to play what's
in the hard drive. If they don't like it, tell them to go build their
own Part 15 Community Station, then they can play all they want.

One time, I had a Hispanic AM station I was doing some contract work
for. The studio was nearly 30 miles from the transmitter site, and we
lost the ISDN line between the studio and transmitter. I just borrow
one of the DJ's ipods, plug it in the input of the audio processor, and
we went back on. I soon realized you can use an ipod for a mini
automation system at the transmitter site if you loose your connection
from the studio.

Doesn't work for Community Radio, you have a music library of 20,000 CDs,
and volunteers like to bring in their own music.

However, some of them would love to plug their iPod into the board and
play their music from that.

re-currents and oldies on CD to play.

Why? Put it ALL on the hard-drive. Use a CD ripper to save time.
Forget about the CD players. Those things are almost as antiquated
as turntables and cart machines.
