[BC] FIRST LPFM BITES THE BUST

I suppose it could be that so many of these operators are in out of the way
locations that they're pretty disconnected with the industry. Their biggest
concern is making the payroll and keeping the lights on. Last month I was
in a very small town helping one of our clients resolve a problem. It was a
place you would never happen through as it was so isolated you had to intend
to go there. This client has a class A with a full time air staff in a
potential coverage area of about 100,000. All he really cares about is
being on the air, making some sales, and operating his pool hall hot dog bar
for fun. He has no interest in owning additional broadcast facilities or
spending time trying to keep up with the conglomerates. A thirty minute
conversation with him explaining what IBOC is and how he need not worry
about it if he didn't want to be a player brought him some knowledge and
relief.

There are more of those out there than you might think.

What happened to people educating themselves??? How can you run a radio
station if you dont even know that IBOC is NOT manditory?? Sounds like
these people dont know much about the business they are trying to be in.
How can you run a business and not know the major issues within that
business? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
