[BC] Scary listeners

When one station signed on under new ownership, they changed everything,
including the phone numbers. They didn't want anything to do with the
prior station's management or format. (Trust me...that was the right thing
to do...) Dumb manager gets a new phone for the TX at my request. But
didn't change the name of the listing for the TX phone and it got published
by mistake. So anyone calling 411 for the old station got the new TX phone
# and the usual greeting.
It took a few days of me asking "Why can't I get into the TX...line
busy?" Went out there, answered a couple IRATE callers, then called the
phone company myself and had the number changed AGAIN to something which NO
ONE would figure is even a radio station TX site.
While at the site one day a few weeks later, a car drove up. A couple
people got out and wanted to know what happened to "their" station. They
were fairly reasonable folks and the conversation was pleasant. But they
also commented there were some extreme listeners who were out their minds
psychotic when the format went away. (Heavy metal to Christian
Contemporary and preaching.)
YIKES....
