I had a similar problem back in '85 with an automation @ KYKN, later KQAK,
in Eugene, OR.

It was caused by an IC pin that had buckled when it was inserted into the
holder.

Depending on the tempreature it would make and break contact sending the Go
Cart racing sending carts flying all over the place.

I nicknamed the automation "Regge" bucause it was regurgatating carts during
those episodes.

I found the problem by accident rather than my superior troubleshooting
skills, I was lost on that one.

>The biggest problem we had was not with the 9003, but with the Go-Carts we

At a station here in Roswell I took care of the older Harris System 90. It
had the Go-Carts in it.
As long as you gave them lots of TLC, they seemed to work OK. There was one
particular morning
the newsperson called yelling about one of the Go-Carts throwing carts. I
got down there and the
Go-Cart was spinning as fast as the motor would allow and every so often it
would pitch one of
the carts out across the room. Pulled the power, plugged it back in and it
settled down. Never
did figure that one out. As far as the System 90 was concerned, once every
two weeks, I would
pull all of the cards from the 'brain', reseat all of the TI chips and we
were good to go.
