Pat2pdf.org is a free service (pat2pdf.com is a FEE, not FREE service) 
which caches its requests.

One a patent is requested through pat2pdf.org's browser interface, that 
patent remains in the cache for a while, often for several days.

If a patent is in the cache, anyone can download it directly.

If a patent has been purged from the cache, direct requests will indeed 
get a "not found" error. This means that the requester must go to the 
browser interface ...
