[BC] WLW related historical question

Hello,

I have heard from different sources that WLW operated the 500 kW monster
during the experimental period, after their full time use of the beast was revoked
by the FCC. Which begs the question, when (as in the approximate year) did
the FCC make the rule that you could not use more than your maximum authorized
power during the experimental period?

And for extra credit, do you know if this rule change was as a result of
WLW's rare but apparently often enough tests of the 500 kW rock crusher to be
annoying to the FCC.

I do not have any concrete proof that WLW ever operated the 500 kW rig at any
time after they lost the privilege to use the rig full time. Therefore, those
stories could be untrue.

What better question to ponder at 6 AM on Saturday? Yea, yea, I know I should
get a life; and if I can't do that, at least get a half-life.

Indulge me if you can.
