Not sure about that - maybe - time makes it fuzzy. However, if true,
it would be very simple to change the jumpers to the leaf switches
to use the "Gatesway" method if you had the M5548 for a Gatesway or
Dualux and wanted to use it with a yard.
In the Gatesway design all relays were series in the ground return
for the PS. IOW the PS xfmr CT was raised above ground by the mute
relay coils strung in series. When powered up, all relays pulled in
closing spkr circuits and opening light circuits. A single contact
on the mike switch shorted the relay coil to mute spkrs and turn
lights on.
Once understood, this "backward" logic was easy to work with and
caused few problems PROVIDED the PS was loaded enough to pull the
relays in at power up. This board didn't like weak 6AQ5's.
