I'll agree with Ugh... It was just that they're cheap simplex radios that
need no infrastructure. I think that depending upon a repeater or other
centralized equipment to be there in an emergency is a bad idea.  So...
CB, FRS, Ham Radio, or any other simplex radio communications.
