RE: Auctions

Go to Radio and Records' web site and look at transactions:

http://www.radioandrecords.com/NewsRoom/2005_10_21/Transactions.asp

$1.3 million for 14 construction permits for Class A's bought in the
recent auction sold by "World Radio Link" to some Christian fellowship
with money to burn.

"World Radio Link" is the same group of folks who dumped those 4,000 plus
translator applications in the hopper a couple of years ago; they've sold
at least $800,000 in translator c.p.'s to various folks.

(Buying a translator CP? Akin to buying pork belly futures... but I
digress)

Programming and public service to the community is irrelevant, radio
stations are just a bunch of poker chips to be bought and sold by the
speculators.

BTW, I'm driving over to Morgantown in the rain today. Apparently the WV
branch of the American Cancer Society is giving our station an award for
being best statewide in promoting the "relay for Life" fundraisers this
year.

It' not my fault, I didn't betray the industry. My sales manager and
office manager deserve the blame. (Of course, we sold some of the remote
broadcasts promoting those fundraisers, greedy capitalists that we are).
But I couldn't convince them to accept the blame for all their work and go
collect the award, even though the ACS offered to put them up overnight
after the ceremony. And my partner and GM is a band parent--football
night! So I have to go, traitor to the business that I am.
