A friend of mine (who used to work at the same station I did back in
the mid 1970s) and I were thinking back to how the PD used to have to
record everything that went out on the air-- but we were trying to
recall the name of the piece of equipment that did it.

The smallest I remember was a Soundscriber. It recorded on small
reels of 2" tape. I believe Metrotech was the name of the
reel-to-reel logger. Today there are very small machines that record
on DAT tape and allow you to audition the tape while it was logging
by storing everything broadcast on a hard drive while you had the
tape looking for a dirty word.
