The names were great weren't they.   "Skyrider."
Now everything is letters and numbers.   "Fire up the DX9G4" somehow lacks a
certain element of excitement compared to "Fire up the TNT and
SuperSkyrider."

I always preferred names, rather than model numbers, for amateur and
commercial gear.  In addition to Skyrider, there were, just to name a few:
Thunderbolt, Ranger, Warrior, Globe King, Tornado, Loudenboomer, Cyclone,
Super-Pro and Power Rock.

There must be a reason that most automobiles have model names rather than
numbers.  I think it was Jay Leno that speculated what it would be like to
tell a cop that you had been rear-ended by a Probe.
