>>Both sides being told means fairness and that's how I was raised-- I
>>believe as a radio consultant, my stations have a DUTY to be fair. They
>>can have ideological shows, of course, but as for NEWS, it should be fair.

But you cannot successfully legislate "fairness" in this medium. Which is
what liberals want to do by reinstating the fairness doctrine. If liberals
want to beat conservatives in the talk radio arena, they have got to play
the game like the conservatives have done. You must entertain the listener
while you are getting your point of view across. Paying someone to hear
your views, like Air America is doing, will not work for very long. I can
throw the name of one conservative talk show host out there and someone in
this list will invariably say "he/she isn't entertaining to me". That may
be rightly so, but in the free market they are entertaining to SOMEONE
because of the growth of the show and the longevity of the shows. You don't
stay on the air 17 years like Limbaugh has done by paying stations to carry
your programming. For Air America to survive, there is going to come a
point in time where they must be programming that stations, many stations,
will WANT to carry. Liberal radio will not make it as long as the hosts
continue to bash conservatives. The negativism won't work and the sooner
the Air America hosts, and other liberal hosts, realize this the better off
they will be.
