[BC] Satellite EAS

Tom,

It's not that simple.
XM at least changes between the various signals on a second by second basis.
It's not like it locks to ground and stays there all the time. It constattly
hops about, looking for the most error free transmission.

Actually Dana, you are making MY point! And I thank you for it. See,
the glass is half full. By your very own supposition, half the people in
a geographical area ARE getting their "audio" by a land base system. As
such, those land based systems should be required to do what the rest of
the land based "audio to the masses" people are required to do. Are you
implying that those sat radios listeneres that happen to be picking up
the terra based transmission to the masses, do not deserve to hear any
emergency information? And for God's sake, whatabout the children?

Looks like you, speaking on behalf of XM/Sirius, would like the sat
boys to have all the good things of broadcasting, without any of the
constraints. That is hardly fair. Nor balanced.

I, as a 30 year veteran of the broadcasting business, have no
trouble with the sat boys as competition. I just believe that we should
all play by the same rules. Is there anything wrong with that viewpoint?
