Ernie:

WE tried that for a little over 70 years. Guess what, CC, Infinity and the
other groups are still cleaning up the mess left behind. These groups have put a
lot of good money into run down ma and pa operations that were never better than
marginal. We seem to have short collective memories. We forget about those bad
sounding marginal stations where the 'talent' could not even speak correct
English (or plug in some other language). We forget how much time these stations
were off air and how they were almost never available in an emergency. I can
think back to way before the 1996 telecommunications act when some stations
automated to improve service due to the lack of adequate talent in the area.
None of this is new. You can look at many markets where radio is much better off
now than 20 years ago.
