thanks for the title Alan but it's most undeserved--so, THAT was who the 
producer was!   it's coming back now--the problem was with the music the 
dance show wanted to push.  The Doctor didn't like it.  BTW there was one 
later Newhart wife--when he was, for a season or two, a cartoonist, the 
third and last Bob Newhart show.  I have no idea who she was though.

Indeed, with Mary Frann as the show's producer (she later went on to be Bob
Newhart's most recent TV wife...)

That was the episode that showed that Johnny may have been weird, but he did
have certain standards...
