[BC] KHJ...

I'm wondering if the tower in the old photo was merely a support for a wire
type of horizontal antenna, and that maybe there was a tower at the other
end of the building as well. I can remember driving through Atlanta and
seeing a somewhat long building with two short, four-legged self supporting,
towers on either end. I also think the old lead in graphics for the
original RKO News Reels at theaters had an animation of such a set up
sending out news to the eagerly awaiting world.

By my best estimate, based on the height of the man on the steel about
fifteen feet above the roof, the KHJ structure seems to only be about 100
feet tall. Also the photo seems to have been taken from some distance away
which puts me in mind of a long roof. Of course the photo could have been
taken from another building as well. It just seems that the tower is too
short be of value as a radiator, but they probably made a lot of mistakes in
the early days of radio.

I would like to have photos of old tower construction to post on Tower-pro
dot net. Any contributions or leads to sites posting old photos of towers
and/or tower construction would be greatly appreciated.
