Dave, WKFD 1370 Wickford RI  used an RA-1000 for  a long time.  By  the time 
I became chief in 1982 it  was gone, replaced with  an MW-1.Interesting setup 
there. The tower was only 110' high due to local  zoning regs and was in a 
tidal cove. Base  impeadnce of about 16 ohms   was calclated at mean tide. You 
cna guess what happned at a  very high or  low tide.
