What's a Lil' Rascal?

The CCA FM2500R was a 2.5 kW single tube transmitter using the 5CX1500
pentode final tube driven by CCA FM-40, 40 Watt exciter, The transmitter was
mounted in a 19 Inch rack. Too much in one rack. The cooling of the tube was
difficult. Plate transformers had a high failure rate.

Also the 5CX1500A in FM Service as a single ended 2.5 kW. transmitter does
not have the greatest record in any companies Transmitter. It was originally
a good tube but later on the tube life went to heck as the price climbed a
couple of hundred dollars. I believe it was actual Econco who suggested the
solution which ended up being the 5CX1500-B tube.
